Why Headlights Turn Yellow in Florida
Modern headlight lenses are polycarbonate with a thin factory UV coating. Years of Central Florida sun break that coating down, and the plastic underneath oxidizes — turning hazy, then yellow. Cloudy lenses scatter light, shorten your beam and can make a vehicle fail a visual inspection or look years older than it is.
Our Restoration Process
- Mask the surrounding paint and trim.
- Wet-sand through the failed coating and oxidation in progressive grits.
- Machine polish the lens back to optical clarity.
- Seal with a UV-resistant coating so the yellowing doesn’t come right back.
Why not a DIY kit? Most kits polish without re-sealing, so lenses haze again within months. The UV seal is what makes a restoration last.
Headlight clarity and UV protection are included in our Platinum package, or add it to any detail. Get a quote or see all packages.
Headlight Restoration FAQs
How long does headlight restoration last?
With a proper UV seal, results typically last far longer than a polish-only job. Parking in shade or a garage and adding a ceramic coating to the lenses extends it further.
How long does it take?
About an hour for a pair of standard headlights, done on-site at your home or office.
Can you fix moisture inside the headlight?
No — restoration fixes the outside of the lens. Condensation inside means a failed seal, and the assembly usually needs repair or replacement.
