What Paint Correction Fixes

Most dull or hazy paint isn’t damaged — the clear coat is covered in fine scratches that scatter light. Paint correction levels the clear coat so light reflects cleanly again.

  • Swirl marks from automatic car washes and dirty towels
  • Hard-water spots from sprinklers and Florida afternoon storms
  • Oxidation and fading on older or sun-baked vehicles
  • Light scratches and holograms from previous buffing
  • Lovebug and bird-dropping etching that a wash won’t remove

Deep scratches that catch a fingernail have gone through the clear coat and usually need touch-up or body work. We’ll tell you honestly during the inspection.

Correction is priced after we inspect the paint under lights, so you only pay for the level your vehicle needs. Our Platinum package already includes a multi-stage polish. Get a free paint correction quote.

Our Paint Correction Process

  1. Inspect under lights and measure paint so we know how much clear coat we have to work with.
  2. Wash and decontaminate — foam pre-soak, two-bucket wash, iron remover and clay bar.
  3. Tape off trim and edges to protect rubber, plastic and badges.
  4. Test spot to dial in the least aggressive pad and polish that gets the result.
  5. Correct panel by panel, wiping down and checking each section under lights.
  6. Protect the result with sealant, wax or a ceramic coating so it stays corrected.

Paint Correction FAQs

How long does paint correction take?

A one-step polish on a sedan is usually a single day. Multi-step correction on a large SUV, truck or dark-colored luxury car can take longer. We’ll give you a time estimate with your quote.

Does paint correction remove clear coat?

It removes a very thin layer to level scratches. That’s why we measure first and use the least aggressive method that gets the result, preserving clear coat for the life of the vehicle.

Should I get a ceramic coating after correction?

It’s the best way to keep the finish. Without protection, the same washing habits and Florida sun bring swirls and fading back. A ceramic coating locks the corrected finish in.

Can you correct oxidized RV gelcoat?

Yes — oxidized RV gelcoat is one of the most common jobs we do. See RV detailing and our RV oxidation removal guide.
